Referendum

There will be a plebiscite
For the people to decide
The new constitution of Myanmar
So that people will have power.

But who draw the draft?
It was by the military craft
All are appointed by top brass
They say it’s for the mass!

Do you really need a referendum?
Just to maintain the continuum
Of the present rule
That excludes the people!

What we need is a government
Elected by the people for the people
That is democratic and transparent
It keeps its promises true.

They ignore the 1990 elections
Will they honour this time too
If results differ from their expectations
Who can guarantee end of their rule?
