Hey, friends!
My heart beats fast and trembles
An old year has just met its end
A new year is thus born
May a new era ushers in now!

We have splashed water on one another
As a sign of solidarity and sincere Metta
Never parting through thick and thin
Until we achieve democracy and win!

Our country is down at the moment
In economy education and health quotient
Not to speak of individual freedom and earning
Democracy and development are people's yearning!

I see light at the end of the tunnel
Solidarity and sincerity are essential
Leave behind those who grumble

If real democracy is to be assembled
May Thingyan wash away misdeeds
let Burma enjoy a happy new year and bountiful feast!
