The Hninzigone Home for the Aged

I’m always struck by the Hninzi Gone

It denotes a hillock of roses dome

Red and regal flowers with fragrance foam

I think of a garden or a sweet home.

No doubt it’s a sweet home for the aged

Not for children or lovers to rummage

Poor perilous old people deserving homage

Enjoy the rest of their lives with advantage.

Male and female senior citizens over 75 years

Without income or family support in the near

Needing shelter medical care and meals dear

They are admitted in order to live without fear.

The Hinzigone Home is a charity

Supported by the public for clarity

Since it was founded in 1933

Daw Oo Zoon was the architect of the facility.

It started with three houses in the present campus

One each for male female and for general purpose

It now has several buildings for domicile and dining hall

It also provides a prayer hall, a hospital and a free clinic for all.

The free clinic is for the mass

Any body can come as such

For the treatment at a nominal fee

Hninzigone provides doctor and services free.

Myanma Alin U Tin managed it well after Daw Oo Zoon

Enlarging and enriching the Senior Citizens boon

It’s now a lively and leisurely place for the aged ones

Even the well-to-do parents of the well-bred try to come.

U Kyaw Shein is now responsible for this progress
He has committed his life as president to its success
Since the time of the Diamond Jubilee of the Rangoon University
We all are called upon to help him with advice, money or utility.

He is now building a three-story building

To lodge one oldie per room by filling

Also a family of two in another room

He looks forward to a nursing boom.

I saw his team of voluntary workers

Doing the chores of the Home smarter

Than a band of government servants

They are working with faith so fervent.

I’m fortunate to be associated with the Home

I’m joined by my wife and other genomes

My sister’s, my relatives, my friends and more

Mandalay Hall oldies take part willingly so.

The Hninzigone or U Kyaw Shein is brave

They show the photo of Bogyoke in place

The only office in town to grace

They deserve our true praise.

Many foreigners and tourists visit the home

They are impressed by the buildings alone

Neat, tidy, clean and colourful that shone

Seniors are big assets admirably shown.

Together with the Burmese people of the country

Their names are recorded on the ceilings and walls

It’s stimulating every one to donate his for all.

After visiting the great Shwedagon Pagoda

One should salute the Mausoleum of the Martyrs

It’s then right to visit the Hninzigone Home for the Aged

It illustrates the history and culture of Burma at first grade.

I’m always impressed by the Hninzigone Home for the aged

I thought it was a place of roses for lovers’ rummage

But, no, it’s a home for the senior citizens of the country

That has lost support and relatives without any money

The public has taken up its duty voluntarily

We have pleasure in seeing it running successfully

May it persist and prosper further

It’s indeed a perpetual pride of Burma!
