Grateful Students and Satay Dinner

Dr Maung Maung Nyo

Students invited me to a BBQ Satay
To join them in celebrating their heyday
After passing their Phase 1 exam wholly

Tonight is the D-Day to make it holy.

The rain fall cats and dogs the whole day
The Kuching sky was heavily cast all grey
We thought BBQ party might have to fray
Luckily it clears a few hours before we stray.

Lucy, Nan and I are the first to arrive at
The BBQ Party site on the patio flat
Students warmly greet us left and right
They want their party a success tonight.

Staff and guests trickle in with time
All look ardent and enthusiastic with smile
Some couples bring in their cute children
It’s Malay culture to enjoy the feast with them.

Melodious music is played for the guests
There is no tedious talk or tempo in effect
Staff and students mix freely to enjoy
The company of each other with smile

Teachers commending student’s success
Students thank the teachers guiding them best
They congratulated me for our book
"Essentials of Integrated Anatomy" as good.

Students barbecue the chicken with zest
They are trying it to make them best
For their teachers, friends and their guests
Food is plenty to feed every body fullest.

Chicken wings, Satay beef and fish
Tomato rice, sweet and sour salad dish
“Whole class passed with three D”, they relish
I say,” You all are great to the finish.”

I remember I once passed the whole class at IM 2
Teachers from other institute scolded me a fool
They said it’s unnatural to pass without failures
I replied them with good teaching can assure.

The UNIMAS students are progressing year by year
They succeed not only better in the Phases clear
They pass in the MRCP and MRCS exams easier
We’re proud of them as their primary teachers

They acknowledge their debts to us wherever they go
It’s a gratification for all of us growing old or dying so!
