Good Bye to Dr Tin Win
Dr Maung Maung Nyo
There was a farewell party the other day
UNIMAS medical Faculty was to say
“Good Bye” to parting professors and pay
Homage and gratitude for their stay
(Dr Tin Win, Asociate Professor and Head of Department of Surgery,
Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UNIMAS)
To teach students and organize activities
For staff and students in all categories
Making UNIMAS an academic icon in Sarawak
Many Burmese have willingly taken part.
(Sitting L to R: Drs Saw Aung Hla Win, Lucy Kyaw Mya,
Nan Ommar, MMN, Tin Win, Yin Yin Nwe, Hla Hla Myint:
Standing L to R: Drs Wai Wai Shein, Sabai Soe Maung,Htwe
Htwe Sein, Aye Aye Aung, Htin Kyaw, Nursing Professor
Man Tha Shin,Saw Win, Soe Lwin, Tin Moe Nwe, Kyi Kyi Win)
Now Professor Tin Win is departing
Dean and deputy deans are remarking
They have lost not only a good teacher
But also in sport and social activities a leader
(L to R: Drs Tin Win, Saw AH Win, Man Tha Shin, Dr Saw Win)
He made UNIMAS people active and agile
He made all of them healthy and smile
Because he taught, he taunts and he shows
Good social habits, ethics and how to grow.
(L to R: Drs Lucy Kyaw Mya, Aye Aye Aung, Nan Ommar,
Kyi Kyi Win)
He had worked at UNIMAS for seven years
He told us at first he would stay for ten years
Alas! UNIMAS rules have made it difficult
For him to continue beyond this time at last
He has to look for greener pasture or clear water
His abilities and personality guarantee to further
His ambition of working till ripe old age of seventy
He easily found work in the medical school of Hashami.
(L to R: Drs Kyi Kyi Win, Hla Hla Myint, Sabai Soe Maung)
We’re sad to say good bye to him so soonBut we’re glad to see him dining without gloom
With his better half enjoying our company and food
She has been a supporter of all of us for good
In shopping, speaking, sporting and selling goods
Or spreading societal news and scoops
(L to R: Drs Tin Moe Nwe, Htwe Htwe Sein, Wai Wai Shein,
Lucy Kyaw Mya)
Our life will be less active and become stale
We look forward to reunion and happier days!
So, Good Bye for now Dr and Mrs Tin Win today
We look forward to seeing you always
We wish you success and happiness in the new adventure
We hope we meet you again in the near future!
(MC Dr Lucy Kyaw Mya)
Lucy Kyaw Mya emceed the occasion
She invited me to give a farewell oration
On Dr Tin Win and his adventures
As I was the most senior of members
Working at the UNIMAS more than 11 years
Dr Tin Win completing only 7 years clear
(L to R: Mrs Tin Win (Yin Yin Nwe), Drs Tin Moe Nwe,
Htwe Htwe Sein, Wai Wai Shein)
He intended to work for ten years when arrived
However he also was awarded the Gemilan Prize
As the best teacher of the university like me
We all are proud and pleased as any one would be.
(Standing L to R: Drs Tin Win and MMN)
Dr Tin Win replied at length after me with elationRecounting his experience and expectation
With stories, anecdotes and jokes
As if he was going to unload
All his feelings aboard this time
We knew he had a strong feeling to grind
As he has built up the surgery domain
From mediocre to today level to maintain
(near L: Dr Htin Kyaw, Standing Drs MMN and Tin Win)
World standard for undergrads and master
For postgraduate MRCS exam that UNIMAS caters.
All attendees clapped and hailed the speakers
They look upon them as good teachers and leaders
Drs Hla Hla Myint, Nan Ommar and Kyi Kyi Win
Htwe Htwe Sein, Tin Moe Nwe, Sabai and U Thar Shin
Soe Lwin, Saw Aung Hla Win and psychiatrist Saw Win
Vegetarian Htin Kyaw and his better half three Aye grinning
(Three Points Chinese Restaurant in Kuching, Sarawak)
Wai Wai Shein and all of us enjoying the Chinese menu at “Three Points”
Seafood soup, Peking duck, roasted chicken and veggies with spices
Steamed Cheese fish, fried vermicelli and pork belly stew
It’s a fantastic dinner for a farewell to a friend by the friendly few!
