1 to 9 and Sure to Shine

Dr Maung Maung Nyo

How many digits can you make?
It’s only zero and one plus eight!
Any number can be written with their aids
It’s the law of nature or mathematics dictates!

She was born on the 19th June
Just after the war and its gloom
After her father has gone to tomb
She holds the country’s fortune.

She could have lived in comfort
After graduating from Oxford
With a husband and two sons
It would be in wealth and warmth.

But she plunged herself in Burma’s affair
When it was in real trouble
On the brink of disintegration in disunity
She tried to lead the people for solidity.

She has worked day and night
Challenging the formidable might
That has forsaken the people’s right
To live as human beings like
In the democracies of the world
She is incarcerated for ever!

She has forsaken her family
Not seeing her dying hubby
Lest the tyrant would prohibit
Her return from his funeral if finish
She swallowed her sorrow swift
It shows how strong her soul and grit is!

People love her more
Her enemy hates her though
For the reason she is so strong
With gut grit and grace aplomb
She is the pupil of the people’s eyes
She is the country’s crown jewel in our minds.

19th June is her 65th Birthday
“Happy Birthday to you”, we say
May she be healthy and strong
May she live with leisure and long!
Aung San Suu Kyi is her name
She is equal to her father’s fame.
