A Regularly Regular Reunion

Dr Maung Maung Nyo

There are laughter and loud voices from Lucy’s room
They are celebrating their regular reunion with a boon
After they have reached the middle age not so soon
They used to meet every two years like a tribal tune.

They are eight or nine students from MC two
Who have labored to graduate as doctors cool
By treating teaching and talking to the people true
That would elevate the health status in Burma new.

They invited us to join their dinner in a posh place
Symbol of sea food special served for the populace
Prime minster Mahathir, presidents and princes grace
It’s the restaurant one must eat in Kuching for taste.

They talk, they tease and they trick each other
They smile, they shine and they sign like youngsters
They forget they are big doctor professors and researchers
They remunerate with glee their experiences with laughter.

I enjoy their chatting company generosity and food
I behave myself not being carried away by their mood
My wife is also happy enjoying their company as a group
She also belongs to the same alma mater as she followed suit.

Their names sound very familiar to me
Lucy is my colleague and anatomist you see
Flora, Khin Mar Myint and Mi Kyaw Thaung still
Esther Tin Htet became a specialist in O and G
Ma Lay Khin got D in anatomy and physiology.

I feel happy that they could regularly meet
Every two years past retirement still neat
All hale and hearty with children of their own
Who have married and established their home
Successful and dutiful to the country and their society
That they have lived in, benefited and bettered much with piety!
