From a Lotus to a Fiery Falcon Bird

Dr Maung Maung Nyo

We have learned the story of an ugly duckling
Abused by her mother duck and other siblings
For her un-duckling ugly features since hatching
But at last, she transforms to a beautiful bird being
The sensational swan swimming majestically in the lake
Every one is amazed and applauds her loudly as “Great”.

So too is our beloved lotus in the mud transforming
From a mere flower to a pretty peahen storming
Into the full-fledged status of a fighting falcon queen
To achieve the supremacy of the sky line scene
To protect peace and prosperity of the country
She has aspired to do it since 1988 quandary.

She has been harassed in many ways
Since the 1990 winning days
For leading the people to victory
On their march to democracy
But she was undaunted all along
She has been solid and strong all round!

What is her strength? Baton, Bomb or Bazooka?
Nothing of that sort, we hear, not even Garuda*
It’s her sincerity and sacrifice for the people
That discipline democracy and dignity must rule
For the people, by the people and of the people
She would be a catalyst to achieve through.

May she live for another hundred year!
I wish her on her 66th Birthday, today, dear!!
