What a Photograph Says!
L to R front: Galon U Saw, Aung San, Hubert Rance, Bagyi Ba Pe, U Tin Tut;
L to R back: Thakhin Mya, Aung Zan Wai (Arakanese), Thein Pe (Myint)(Dr Maung Maung Nyo)
I’m fond of looking at photographs
Especially of the distant past;
I’ve seen historic photographs of many
Of the world, of my country and my family
Taken dozens of years ago or more possibly
I still have those photographs with me.
I now look at the photograph of Aung San
Before he was assassinated and overrun
That was taken with Sir Hubert Rance
Governor of Burma with charm
It’s striking as each poses with glance
That’s characteristic of political stance.
First look at Governor Rance carefully
He is standing upright and squarely
He is sure of himself and poses confidently
He knows he is Chairman of Cabinet clearly
His face shows something simmering
But he maintains his post without revealing.
General Aung San is in military uniform
He is standing comfortably in unison
With Chairman Rance's befitting second
He is prepared to go along with the British
But, if independence is not coming forthwith
He is ready to fight to the finish!
On the left of Rance is Bagyi Ba Pe
He is a politician of old days and way
He stands closer to Rance, I would say
He is fond of staying close to British ways
Kodaw Hmaing likened him to thirsty cattle
He took Kyat 5000 minister post without scruples.
On the extreme right is U Tin Tut
He stands upright in confident mood
He is an ICS and later a brigadier
He cared only for Aung San and
He is no none sense person with several skills
No wonder socialists did not like him and killed.
On the extreme left is Galon U Saw
He looks deceptive, disdainful and gall
He is showing his stance away from all
He later resigned from Cabinet to fall
By killing Aung San and ministers
It was the most treacherous act for
Behind U Saw is smiling Thakhin Mya
He is a senior Thakhin, Master of Burma
In charge of home ministry to ensure
Law and order prior to independence
H enjoys Aung San's total confidence.
On the left of Thakhin Mya is an Arakanese
It's probably U Aung Zan Wai
Arakanese Gaungbaung (turban) has left leaf
Burmese turban has right leaf display
He is a patriot any way
He escaped on assassination day.
On the extreme right at the back is Thein Pe
He is a delegate of the CPB in those days
But later he was expelled from party as troublesome
In turn the Party was expelled from AFPFL by Aung San;
That led to civil war after independence
A photograph can reveal many things
First it provides personal identification
Maximum it furnishes interpreting feelings
Once a court annulled a marriage swing
As the bride shows sadness by not smiling
Maung Thar Ya also wrote about these things
Of heroes and traitors in a revolution
From a group photo of college students
“Every thing about our past in the making”.
I also venture about this photo interpretation
It's so intriguing!
I know the people and their standings
I’m no politician, but interested in politicking!
