Buddha’s Fire Sermon
(Explanation about Tanha or Cravings)

Dear Readers,
T.S. Eliot was an erudite experimental poet engrossed with exhaustive knowledge,
both literary and religious. In his "Wasteland", he described the old English poems, the Greek mythologies, the Christian Bible, Buddhist philosophy and parables etc.
There is Chapter III The Fire Sermon in his book and he mentioned about the famous Buddha's Fire Sermon. He writes thus:
(Buddha Meditating in Red denoting Fire)
"Burning burning burning burning
O lord Thou pluckest
Burning...."
(The Life of Buddha)
I have described the Fire Sermon in full.
I like to compose like this now:
" Eliot is a great gold mine
Full of treasures, all sublime
He understood Buddhist philosophy;
One of the Four Truths is misery
He mentions the Buddha's Fire Sermon
That all cravings are demons
They are like fire
Destroying and devouring like tendra.
All is burning
Eye is burning
Ear is burning
Tongue is burning
Mouth is burning
Mind is burning
All sensations are burning
All desires are burning.
All cravings are deceptions
They are delusions
They all are burning
You must extinguish those burning
To attain peace of mind and Nirvana
Only then you will become an Arahat!
